چکیده
Abstract The carbon cycle in East Lake (Newberry Volcano, Oregon, USA) is fueled by volcanic CO2 inputs with traces of Hg and H2S. dissolves deep lake waters removed shallow through largely diffusive surface degassing photosynthesis. Escaping gas photosynthate have low δ13C values, leading to δ13C(DIC) (DIC—dissolved inorganic carbon) as high +5.7‰ waters, well above the common global range. A steep depth gradient further established respiration absorption light bottom waters. seasonal starts at >100 t CO2/day after ice melting spring declines ∼40 t/day late summer, ∼11,700 CO2/yr. Thus, volcano monitoring fluxes from crater lakes should consider lacustrine processes that modulate output over time. flux contribution a bubbling “hotspot” increased 20% >90% lake-wide 2015 2019 CE, followed “toxic alert” July 2020. an active “geogenic” ecosystem driven primarily hydrothermal inputs.

Chronology of latest Pleistocene lake-level fluctuations in the pluvial Lake Chewaucan basin, Oregon, USA
New accelerator mass spectrometer radiocarbon ages from gastropods in shore deposits within the pluvial Lake Chewaucan basin, combined with stratigraphical and geomorphological evidence, identify an abrupt rise and fall of lake level at ca. 12 14C ka. The lake-level high is coeval with lake-level lows in the well-dated records of palaeolakes Bonneville and Lahontan, and with a period of relativ...
متن کاملAre There Significant Hydrothermal Resources in the U.s. Part of the Cascade Range?
The Cascade Range is a geothermal dichotomy. On the one hand, it is an active volcanic arc above a subducting plate and is demonstrably an area of high heat flow. On the other hand, the distribution of hydrothermal manifestations compared to other volcanic arcs is sparse, and the hydrothermal outflow calculated from stream chemistry is low. Several large estimates of undiscovered geothermal res...

[1] Images from satellite interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) reveal uplift of a broad 10 km by 20 km area in the Three Sisters volcanic center of the central Oregon Cascade Range, 130 km south of Mt. St. Helens. The last eruption in the volcanic center occurred 1500 years ago. Multiple satellite images from 1992 through 2000 indicate that most if not all of 100 mm of observed upli...
متن کاملFate and behavior of rotenone in Diamond Lake, Oregon, USA following invasive tui chub eradication.
In September 2006, Diamond Lake (OR, USA) was treated by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife with a mixture of powdered and liquid rotenone in the successful eradication of invasive tui chub Gila bicolor. During treatment, the lake was in the middle of a phytoplankton (including cyanobacteria Anabaena sp.) bloom, resulting in an elevated pH of 9.7. Dissipation of rotenone and its major m...

The study subvolcanic intrusion, comprising syenodiorite, monzonite and quartz-monzonite, is cropped out in Talkh-rud valley located in the northeast of Damavand volcano flank. This sub-volcanic intrusion possesses porphyritic texture and consists of plagioclase, alkali feldspars, phelogopite, amphibole, clinopyroxene, apatite and titanomagnetite. Evidences of disequilibrium such as zoning and ...
